A writing course for first-year students, this course is based on Aristotelian rhetorical principles and focuses
on sensitivity to audience and purpose.
Pre-First Year in Engineering and Science (PREF): Introduction to Rhetoric and Composition (2 sections)
Sponsored by the Multicultural Engineering Program, PREF is a summer bridge program in which entering first
year students take preparatory courses in Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, and English.

This one credit tutorial is available for students who need or want additional instruction in Rhetoric and
Composition. It is offered through Penn State's Undergraduate Writing Center.
